Redeemed from aimless conduct

knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. – 1 Peter 1:18-19

I find it fascinating how often phrases leap out at me while reading scripture. Sunday I sat down to read and in first Peter the phrase ‘aimless conduct’ seemed to be in bold print. I stopped and thought about that phrase for awhile.

How often do we find ourselves wasting time? I know in my house if I don’t have a list of things to accomplish for the day it’s very unlikely anything would get done. It’s easy to sit down and satisfy our flesh and meander through life at our own pace doing our own thing,

but God has redeemed us from our aimless conduct.

It means something in me can change! I don’t have to be a slave to a list to accomplish all my God has for me. I can ask and receive by grace the ability to run after His goals. I have been redeemed from laziness and wondering to and fro.

Let’s all ask God today for His focus and motivation in our lives. Let’s live with purpose and strive to hear all that we should do from Him.

Lord, I thank you for redemption. I praise you and thank you that Jesus can change my heart, and I can follow your will joyfully. Help me stay focused on the path I am to run for your glory. In Jesus name, Amen.
